RAILA ODINGA’s POLITICS in the RIFT VALLEY are OVER after KALENJIN elders impose CURSE

The race for Kibaki’s succession took another twist on Monday, after a group of Kalenjin Council of elders imposed a curse on any member from their community who will vote for Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The elders, who had gathered at a holy shrine in Mau forest, declared that, curse will befall on any person who will vote for a person who evicted them from Mau Forest, where they said is their ancestry land where their gods are believed to have lived.

The elders, who consisted of 80 aged men, said they have spiritual powers to impose a curse to anyone who goes against what they have communicated.

The men were drawn from 7-sub-tribes of Kalenjin community namely, Kipsigis, Nandi, Keiyo, Tugen, Marakwet, Sabaot and Terik and resolved to convey a message to every member of the community to prevent the gods’ wrath from befalling on their community.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is the CORD Presidential flag bearer, is believed to have ordered the evictions in Mau Forest in year 2008.

This is a big blow to Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid especially in wooing the Kalenjin community to vote for him on March 4th.
