Kikuyu elders ban sex on election eve

Kikuyu elders ban sex on election eve

KIKUYU Council of Elders has urged members of the community to avoid sex on the eve of the March 4 general election.

The elders said all members should abstain from sex and alcohol at least 12 hours before the elections.
The chairman of the elder’s vetting committee Muiruri Njuguna said the move will ensure victory as voters will be sober.
“Traditionally, sex and alcohol were avoided when people were optimistic of victory especially on the eve of war or other big events like general election.
I want the community to avoid sex and alcohol since many may fail to vote,” he said.
The elders were speaking at Narumoru town last weekend after crowning the Kieni parliamentary aspirant James Mathenge also known as Kanini Kega as a Kikuyu elder.
The elders, who were led by national chairman Wachira Kiago, blessed Mathenge for the MP’s seat, saying he is a leader of integrity.
Mathenge was on a three-day campaign drive to woo voters ahead of TNA nominations.
Earlier, rowdy youth disrupted Mathenge rally after he made a stop-over at Ichuga trading centre.
Mathenge condemned the incident and urged Kieni residents not to elect violent leaders
