AG GITHU MUIGAI asks to be included in RAILA ODINGA’s petition against UHURU KENYATTA
News just in
indicates that Attorney General Githu Muigai has filed an application to the
Supreme Court asking to be enjoined as an ‘Amicus Curiae’ (a
friend of the court) in CORD’s petition opposing IEBC’s decision to declare Uhuru
Kenyatta the President-elect.
The AG is the Government’s Chief Legal Advisor.
PM Raila Odinga is
listed as the only petitioner in the election petition filed on Saturday. The
respondents are the IEBC Chairman Issack Hassan, President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta
and Deputy President-elect William Ruto.
Jubilee’s legal team
will be headed by Professor Kindiki Kithure while CORD’s will be fronted by
senior counsel George Oraro.
The Supreme Court has
14th days decide the case. Legally the Supreme Court is allowed to
give its ruling and then give reasons later or give a ruling with detailed
reasons.
