I love UHURU KENYATTA but here is why I will VOTE for RAILA ODINGA

MY FELLOW KENYANS:

Unlike you who are mostly committed to the choice of your preferred candidates on tribal grounds, I have flirted with each of the three Biggies starting with ODM, then UDF and finally TNA.

I did it to try & identify with each one and the aspirations it stood for. Now I am better informed, than ever before, regarding who of the three leading presidential candidates is best suited to wed Miss Kenya, the bridal daughter of 42 million Kenyans who renews her maidenly status every five years.

There are really only these three Presidential Candidates to choose from: Raila Odinga for Cord, Uhuru Kenyatta for Jubilee and Musalia Mudavadi for Amani. Of these three, we can easily reject the candidacy of Mudavadi for the simple reason he has not done enough to warrant the marital favour of our daughter, Miss Kenya.

We are thus left with the remaining two - Raila & Uhuru. The time to choose between the two is virtually upon us. We are faced with the moment of truth. Forget the verbal ding-dongs we have been having for the last two years over these two leaders.

Who do we vote for? Raila or Uhuru? Let us see the issues surrounding each one's candidacy. In doing so, we must first dismiss outright the claim by Uhuru that he deserves to be elected because of his youth.

If age was the sole criteria for choosing a President, then Uhuru's father Jomo would never have become president. For the same reason, Nelson Mandela would not have made it.

If youth is such a big deal for leadership claims, then it was manifestly wanting in the recent TNA nominations fiasco when ballot papers could not be moved from Nairobi to Nyeri - a mere 200km away - for one and half days. So much then for youth credentials.

Disposing of this age factor, we are left with two core issues - one each for Raila and Uhuru.
Raila has one issue facing him: credibility issue.

Uhuru has one issue facing him and Ruto: ICC issue.

Raila's issue is a local internal one and it is within our power as Kenyans to decide upon it. We can overlook it and vote for him, hoping for the best. Or we can reject him and decide not to vote for him. It is, as I said, a flexible issue within our power of judgment.

Not so with Uhuru & Ruto issue of ICC. It is an international issue facing them, over which we as Kenyans have no power to decide upon.

Uhuru tells us that he is capable of ruling the country from The Hague, meaning the ICC case is not an impediment. Before we can accept his claim, he has to be very specific about how he plans to rule Kenya from The Hague, because successive presidents of Kenya could not rule Kenya from Nairobi, our national capital.

Can Uhuru come down to specifics of how he plans to rule Kenya from The Hague before we can vote for him ? It is not enough for him to make a rhetorical statement at a public rally.
We want a very comprehensive statement from Uhuru to enable us to consider him vis-a-vis Raila.
