ODM’s Joho and Omar lead the Mombasa county race - as BALALA closes in


  The latest opinion poll by Ipsos Synovate shows ODM candidate Hassan Joho has a commanding lead over his rivals in the race for Mombasa governor seat.

Joho, who is immediate former Kisauni MP, garnered 52 percent against his closest rival Wiper’s Suleiman Shahbal who only secured 19 percent. Ibrahim Khamisi came third with 4 percent while TNA‘s Abdalla Mwarura got 3 percent only.

On the senatorial race, Human Rights activist Hassan Omar has a slight lead over two of his closest challengers.

Omar, who is vying on a Wiper ticket scored 28 percent while ODM‘s Ramadhan Kajembe and Jubilee’s Najib Balala tied at 26 percent.

The survey, which was conducted through face-to- face interviews with 887 registered voters in the county , was commissioned by the Standard Group and conducted between February 6 and 9.
